Alex has spent several years learning and practicing the art of lampworking. She has attended several workshops at Corning Museum of Glass, Carlisle School of Glass Art, Brookfield Craft Center and continues to learn from her main teacher Annukka of Silver Street Glass Studio in Granby, Connecticut. Alex is also a member of the New England Chapter of ISGB (International Society of Glass Beadmakers)
The artwork of Alex Lopez is created using a torch flame and glass to create stunning one-of-a-kind beads, pendants, and other pieces. She uses primarily soda-lime or “soft” glass and works with the glass at over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. After crafting the glass is annealed in a kiln to make it strong and resistant to breaking.
When not at her day job as a direct support professional Alex can be found hiking, playing with her cat Martha, or in the glass studio working on her glasswork.
